The Impact Of Active Learning On The Development Of Critical Thinking
Skills In Students.
ABSTRACT
The impact of active learning on the development of critical thinking skills in students is a
crucial issue in the contemporary educational context. It is based on the premise that
traditional teaching methods, focused on the passive transmission of content, limit students'
ability to analyze, evaluate, and apply information independently. Active learning, on the
other hand, promotes students' active participation through problem-solving, collaborative
work, and the use of pedagogical strategies that foster critical reflection.
Through an extensive review of the literature and analysis of recent empirical studies, various
active learning approaches are explored, including problem-based learning, cooperative
learning, and project-based learning. These approaches are highlighted as effective tools for
improving critical thinking skills, as they stimulate questioning, debate, and the evaluation of
multiple perspectives.
The aim of the study is to analyze the impact of active learning on the development of critical
thinking skills in students, identifying the most effective pedagogical strategies and their
implications for the teaching-learning process, with the goal of proposing improvements in
educational practices that promote comprehensive cognitive development. The findings
presented in this article underscore the need for a pedagogical transformation that
systematically incorporates active learning to enhance critical thinking skills in students.
Additionally, the implications for teachers are discussed, as they play a fundamental role in
facilitating these dynamic and challenging learning environments both inside and outside the
educational institution.
In terms of the methodological framework, this study was conducted with a quantitative
approach using a pre-experimental design. Data collection was carried out through the survey
technique, using a questionnaire as an instrument. The information was processed using
Microsoft Excel and IBM SPSS Statistics software.
