Incidence in Conflict Resolution, According to the Koch and Girard
Approach in the Classroom in University Students
ABSTRACT
The main objective of this research project is to design a pedagogical proposal from the perception that
teachers have in Koch and Girard's approach to conflict resolution in university students in the first
semester of Psychology at the Faculty of Health of the University of Pamplona. Through the
aforementioned approach, this research has proven to be effective in conflict resolution at different
levels and contexts, promoting the transformation of conflictive relationships towards ones based on
trust, mutual respect and cooperation. It has been successfully applied in reconciliation processes and
peacebuilding, contributing to overcoming violence and building a culture of peace and peaceful
coexistence. In conclusion, Koch and Girard's approach has proven to be one of the most effective tools
for conflict resolution in Colombia, promoting the peaceful transformation of relationships and
contributing to the construction of a more just, equitable and peaceful society. Its application in different
contexts has allowed for progress towards the construction of a culture of peace and peaceful
coexistence in the country. The research was conducted under a qualitative model, as well as adopting
an Action Research (AR) type design, which actively allows the conscious participation of the key
informants. The selected population consisted of 5 students from the I semester of the Psychology
Program at the University of Pamplona, distributed in two women and 3 men between the ages of 16
and 21 who have excellent, acceptable or poor social performance. It is important to clarify that they
were only required to provide information through techniques such as interviews, role-playing
workshops, educational talks, and observation. In order to collect information, instruments such as a
question form and field diaries. The validity of said instruments was verified and carried out by experts.
In this order of ideas, according to Burton and Sandole (1986), “purposes” mean the termination of the
conflict through analytical methods that address the root of the problem. Resolution of intercultural
conflicts, as opposed to mere management or adjustment, is oriented towards the result that, according
to the parties involved, is a permanent solution to the problem. It is understood that conflict resolution
seeks to address the underlying sources of problems, with the aim of preventing their recurrence and
contributing to the elimination of their causes.
Keywords: perception of conflict resolution, peaceful coexistence. workshops, role play, conscious
participation, conflict termination, prevention.
