Hábitos de Salud Bucal Antes y Durante la Pandemia por Covid 19 en Preescolares Peruanos
Resumen
Justificación: La pandemia por Covid 19 ha provocado cambios en los hábitos y estilos de vida de las familias, diferentes países anunciaron la suspensión de las escuelas para evitar la propagación de la enfermedad, llevando a los niños a permanecer largas horas en casa, provocando cambios en las prácticas de dieta, así como en la higiene bucal. Objetivo: El estudio tuvo como propósito determinar si existe diferencia entre los hábitos de salud bucal antes y durante la pandemia en preescolares peruanos. Método: En el estudio observacional participaron 241 padres o tutores de preescolares, los cuales fueron seleccionados en dos etapas, primero se eligieron nueve conglomerados aleatoriamente y luego treinta participantes de cada conglomerado por muestreo aleatorio simple. Se aplicó una encuesta autoinformada de 14 ítems previamente validada, se recolectaron datos sobre la práctica de dieta, higiene bucal y cuidado dental preventivo antes y durante la pandemia. Resultados: Los resultados mostraron diferencias estadísticamente significativas (p<0.05) entre la higiene bucal antes y durante la pandemia, donde más padres reportaron el uso de pastas dentales con más de 1000 ppm de flúor y sus hijos se cepillaron los dientes dos o más veces al día durante la pandemia. Por otro lado, menos padres ayudaron a sus hijos con el cepillado dental, mientras que, la práctica de dieta y cuidado dental no mostraron diferencias antes y durante la pandemia. Conclusión: Existen diferencias entre los hábitos de higiene bucal antes y durante la pandemia, mientras que las prácticas de dieta y cuidado dental preventivo no se diferenciaron.
