¿Qué sabemos del Comportamiento Deshonesto en la Escuela? Una Revisión Narrativa

Resumen

La deshonestidad académica es un fenómeno que ha sido objeto de creciente preocupación en el ámbito educativo, tanto en un nivel medio superior como superior. A medida que la educación se ha vuelto cada vez más competitiva, las prácticas deshonestas han ido cobrando mayor relevancia, ya que, a pesar de ser reconocidas como prácticas indeseables, en la realidad son vistas como soluciones inmediatas a obstáculos naturales de la vida académica, restando importancia a los efectos en el mediano y largo plazo de dicho comportamiento. Esta situación no solo tiene consecuencias individuales, sino que atenta directamente contra el prestigio de las instituciones educativas y la calidad que éstas ofrecen, al menoscabar sus estándares. En este contexto resulta crucial comprender a profundidad las variables involucradas en el comportamiento deshonesto de estudiantes de niveles medio superior y superior, a fin de ofrecer a las instituciones un cuerpo de conocimiento útil para intervenir sobre el fenómeno. El presente artículo es una revisión narrativa de literatura científica de acceso abierto que aborda el tema de la deshonestidad académica. En la presente revisión se describen las formas más comunes de prácticas deshonestas, como el plagio y el fraude en exámenes. Se señalan variables que han demostrado asociación con el fenómeno haciendo una distinción entre variables individuales, como rasgos de personalidad y moralidad, y factores contextuales, como el ambiente educativo y las normas sociales. También se exploran estudios que abordaron las percepciones de estudiantes y profesores sobre la deshonestidad y cómo estas percepciones influyen en el comportamiento deshonesto. La revisión concluye evaluando el estado actual del conocimiento, identificando vacíos en la literatura y proponiendo nuevas investigaciones.
