Toxoplasmosis y Pruebas para Diagnóstico Clínico
Resumen
El ser humano puede infectarse por el parásito intracelular Toxoplasma gondii, es un parásito protozoario intracelular obligatorio que puede afectar a varias especies de sangre caliente a nivel global, causando la enfermedad llamada toxoplasmosis, una enfermedad parasitaria de carácter zoonótico. Si bien es cierto, la infección generalmente es asintomática en la mayor parte de las personas adultas, en algunas personas se pueden presentar complicaciones graves. El diagnóstico serológico es fundamental como práctica de rutina a fin de determinar el estado inmunológico de la infección por T. gondii. En esta revisión se intenta brindar una visión general del diagnóstico serológico de la toxoplasmosis, por lo que se incluye la estrategia diagnóstica, los problemas presentes en la localización con anticuerpos específicos, al igual que la estandarización de la detección serológica de T. gondii. En la actualidad no se ha conseguido estandarizar los inmunoensayos para detectar IgG específica de T. gondii. Más aun debido a su calidad de enfermedad zoonótica, por lo que, en caso de existir una alta sospecha de infección, particularmente una infección nueva al comienzo de la gestación, será necesaria la ratificación de los resultados por medio de otras pruebas serológicas periódicas a intervalos.
