Resumen

El conocimiento sobre el liderazgo tiene una gran historia en las ciencias administrativas y de gestión. El liderazgo está en el núcleo de lo que parece hacer que las cosas sucedan en grupos, organizaciones o sociedades. Este artículo facilita una descripción general de algunas de los conceptos importantes del liderazgo en la bibliografía académica sobre el comportamiento y la gestión organizacional. Estas ideas se fundamentan en una serie de desarrollos novedosos en sociología y teoría de la organización que pueden enriquecer el pensamiento sobre el liderazgo en las Instituciones de Educación Superior (IES) públicas en México porque examinan la naturaleza pluralista del contexto organizacional dentro del cual manejan los líderes de las organizaciones del sector público, así como la dinámica y naturaleza colectiva de los procesos de liderazgo en estos contextos.
