Evaluación de los Niveles de Empatía en Médicos Residentes de Medicina Familiar
Resumen
Introducción: La empatía es una competencia esencial en la práctica médica, especialmente en Medicina Familiar, donde la relación médico-paciente influye en la adherencia terapéutica y la calidad de la atención. Sin embargo, estudios previos han señalado una disminución de la empatía durante la formación médica, lo que podría afectar la atención en el primer nivel. Por ello, es relevante evaluar esta competencia en residentes de Medicina Familiar del Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS) en Durango. Objetivo: Determinar los niveles de empatía en médicos residentes de Medicina Familiar del IMSS, Durango. Métodos: Estudio observacional, descriptivo, transversal y prospectivo, realizado en 61 residentes de tres Unidades de Medicina Familiar de Durango. Se aplicó un cuestionario sociodemográfico y la Escala de Empatía Médica de Jefferson (JSPE). El análisis se realizó mediante estadística descriptiva y comparación de medias. Resultados: El 50,8% de los residentes presentó un nivel de empatía sobresaliente y el 47,5% un nivel intermedio; solo el 1,6% mostró un nivel alto. Conclusiones: Los residentes de Medicina Familiar presentan niveles adecuados de empatía, especialmente los de tercer año, lo que sugiere un efecto positivo de la experiencia clínica.
