Varicocele: nuevos enfoques diagnósticos y terapéuticos
Resumen
El varicocele es una entidad patológica que cursa con una dilatación anormal y tortuosa del plexo pampiniforme. Afecta aproximadamente al 15% de la población general masculina, siendo más común durante la adolescencia. El lado izquierdo es el que se afecta con mayor frecuencia (90%). En la mayoría de casos el varicocele es asintomático, sin embargo, en ocasiones podría cursar con un cuadro clínico de dolor o pesadez a nivel del escroto. Según la Asociación Europea de Urología, el diagnóstico del varicocele se debe realizar de manera inicial en el examen físico, y luego se debe confirmar mediante una ecografía Doppler color.
