La neopterina y procalcitonina como predictor de sepsis en adultos
Resumen
Introducción: la neopterina y la procalcitonina son marcadores inmunoquímicos que pueden ser útiles para el seguimiento de las enfermedades inflamatorias. Se ha identificado en el contenido sérico en situaciones en las que el sistema inmunitario está siendo activado por células. Objetivo: describir la neopterina y procalcitonia como predictor de sepsis. Materiales y métodos: es un estudio de revisión bibliográfica con uso de los descriptores de la salud que permitió localizar las palabras claves, con el objetivo de buscar específicamente literatura basada en la evidencia en las diferentes bases de datos como: Google Scholar,Scielo, Scopus, Pubmed. Resultados: se encontró que ambos biomarcadores tienen una sensibilidad y especificidad parecida en patologías como: sepsis y la infección de la inflamación sistémica. Conclusión: tanto la neopterina como la procalcitonina son indicadores inespecíficos de inflamación, que pueden ser útiles para el seguimiento de un proceso infeccioso.
