Anticuerpos antigangliósidos y Síndrome de Guillain Barré en pacientes Guatemaltecos.
Resumen
El Síndrome de Guillain-Barré (SGB) es la causa más común de parálisis flácida aguda. Constituye un reto para el personal de salud por su variabilidad clínica y heterogeneidad inmunológica (Kazim & Sheikh, 2020; Rivera-Lillo, et al. 2016). Es un estudio observacional transversal retrospectivo, realizado en población guatemalteca adulta que consulto al Hospital General San Juan de Dios durante junio de 2020 a junio de 2022. Se documentaron 60 casos que fueron diagnosticados como SGB por el departamento de Neurología y neurociencias. Con el objetivo de determinar si existe asociación entre la presencia de anticuerpos antiangliósidos y la variante axonal. Para el análisis estadístico se utilizó el software SPSS. Se encontró que el 61.7 % fueron hombres teniendo una razón hombres/mujeres de 1.6. Con una edad media de 42 ± 1 años. Se observó un aumento de casos en septiembre y enero, con una variabilidad geográfica. El 55% (33) presento la variante axonal y el 45% (27) la variante desmielinizante. 11.7% (7) presentaron anticuerpos antigangliósidos positivos. Y el 56.6% (34) presentó antecedente de un proceso infecciosos previo, siendo la infección gastrointestinal la más frecuente 61.8% (21), seguido de infección por COVID-19 26.4% (9). Se encontró asociación estadísticamente significativa entre anticuerpos antigangliósidos y la variante axonal (p 0.011).
