Vólvulo de ciego, reporte de un caso y revisión de la literatura

Resumen

El vólvulo de ciego es una entidad poco frecuente, representando menos del 1% de las causas de oclusión intestinal, y el 5.9% de todas las causas de vólvulo de colon. Existen factores de riesgo identificados para el desarrollo de esta patología, entre los cuales podemos mencionar: edad mayor a 70 años, antecedente de accidente cerebral vascular, parálisis cerebral y otras causas de postración. Se han identificado en necropsias, alteraciones de la fijación del ciego con una prevalencia de hasta el 11%, pudiéndose clasificar como posible factor de riesgo. Presentamos el caso de paciente del sexo femenino de 72 años con antecedentes de hipertensión arterial sistémica y diabetes tipo 2 en mal control, que acude al servicio de urgencias con datos clínicos de oclusión intestinal y datos de choque, ingresó a quirófano para laparotomía exploratoria, con hallazgo transoperatorio de vólvulo cecal, realizando cirugía de control de daños con resección de colon ascendente, 270 centímetros de intestino delgado,  ileostomía terminal y procedimiento tipo Hartmann.
